The Laundry Problem

User Research

Primary Domain: User Research
Type: Academic
Team: 3 members
Timeline: November 2021

The group wanted to enhance the laundry experience for users. The problem area and basic User Research were provided and we had to identify the Product Opportunity Gap by User Research and prioritization. We used the four-funnel approach.

the process…

Identifying

In the domain of laundry, we first did a PESTLE (or SET) analysis. We got some insights from laundromats by using the ‘fly-on-the-wall’ tool. We then created multiple Product Opportunity Gaps (POGs) and after affinity clustering them we used a weighted matrix to finalize one POG.

Understanding

We identified all the Jobs-To-Be-Done for our focus group. Using dot-voting we identified jobs with the maximum opportunity. We then placed these jobs on a 2x2 matrix (time x user experience) and identified one which was the least ranked. We created a Task Flow Analysis to understand the problem better.

Conceptualizing

Using Value Opportunity Analysis Chart we priorotised values which were utilised to create a Product Requirement. This was done after identifying the closest two competitors to indentify unmet needs.

Realising

After creating a comprehensive Product Requirement, we created two broad kind of solutions. We made two low-fidelity prototypes and created a Marketing and Manufacturing Plan for one solution selected by A/B Testing.
